ATTACK ON A GENERATIONToday's teens are being attacked by popular culture like no other generation. Hollywood, the music industry, advertisers, and even the mainstream media are using their arsenal of tools to win the battle for our teens' hearts- and so far they are winning! In order to defeat our enemy, we must know how it thinks and understand the weapons it uses. It is critical that we realize how far-reaching the crisis is- and then we must work together to stop it. TELEVISIONThis generation views 16 to 17 hours of television each week and sees on average 14,000 sexual scenes and references each year. That's more than 38 references every day. INTERNETThis generation spends three hours a day online and is the first to grow up with point-and-click pornography. Almost 90 percent of teens have viewed pornography online at one of the 300,000 adult websites, most while doing homework. MUSICMore than 25 percent of teen-targeted radio segments contain sexual content; 42 percent of the top selling CDs contain sexual content ADVERTISINGWith more than $128 billion dollars in their pockets, this generation has been targeted by corporate America, who does everything it can to grow brands and profits without any regard to the moral decay of a generation. The fight to save this generation is bigger than any one of us - however, working together we can fight back! That is where you and the Battle Cry Campaign come into play. THE BATTLE CRY CAMPAIGNThe Battle Cry Campaign works by uniting all of us into one powerful and engaged force. The purpose of the Campaign is to fully realize the potential power of the local church youth group by providing a support structure that will help them grow in numbers while discipling this generation. It calls for at least 100,000 local churches and individuals to join the Battle Cry Coalition and commit to the planning, prayer and work required to grow their youth group. Together, we hope to grow the average youth group size from 12 to 300 teens within the next five years. THE FOUR CAMPAIGN PILLARSThe Battle Cry Campaign encompasses four major areas of support that are necessary to help the local youth group play the frontline role in rescuing this generation. Under these main areas there are numerous initiatives, thousands of organizations and millions of individuals that all must work together to succeed. |
